Research: Two Castles Housing Association

Available from: http://www.twocastles.org.uk/library/documents/AnnualReportForResidents2010-11_2.pdf

This report is a little different, as although the majority of the other examples have been accessed digitally they were primarily designed for print, while this one features click through buttons and was created to be viewed via an internet browser. The colours and style immediately seem to be targetting an older audience, though I'm not sure why it appears that way to me as it is digital and therefore more likely to be viewed by younger adults. The text is legible and neat, but the photographs are all different sizes which gives it a strange appearance as they could all have easily been resized or cropped to be even.
This is quite a bland offering on the text-heavy pages inside, and gives the impression of a boring PowerPoint presentation, with amateur looking photography and lots of serif type. The colours are understated and do not add enthusiasm to the design.
However, I do feel that they display their data attractively, possibly because they use the pastel colours and simple shapes that I favoured in the other designs. It is strange for them to use these colours in these applications while using burgundy and grey for the headers and footers throughout, but it does help convey the information nicely. Again, the imagery is of older people which is why I find it strange that this is available as a digital click-through presentation, although there may have been a print format for residents.
