WIX

I have been testing out Wix and I am finding it a lot easier to work than WordPress, although that may be due to the fact that most of the content is images which it seems it is best suited to. For me, it has the ease of function of a Tumblr site but with a more professional feel, making it perfect for a portfolio.

I selected a blank template and was expecting it to be challenging but it seems a lot more intuitive to me than WordPress, and I have been able to start creating a website that I am proud of.

I have found it a lot easier to include my own branding, and resizing and moving items is no problem. With a blank template I am able to control the layout but there are still additional sections for an 'About Me' and 'Contact'. I think this may be because I selected a blank template under the portfolio or design categories but I'm not sure, but I have been able to create a site that is very representative of the style of my work.

I definitely find this easier to use than WordPress, although I have only given both a short go, and will persevere with Wix to create my portfolio site. However, there must be a reason why WordPress is so popular and perhaps if the council is willing to invest money in the web design I will be able to find more editable templates.
