Further Design Development

Even though my Annual Report design was liked at the meeting, I had some issues with it. As I had taken a printed version with me to the meeting I was able to see how it would look in the flesh and there were a few features I needed to tweak. Following the discussion at the meeting with Claire Neville I added flats to the cover and also trees around the title to give more of a jolly community look to the publication. I also made the houses a little smaller to fit more in and they are closer to the edges of the page than before as I felt the margins were too large.
I expanded the image from the cover inside, adding a winding River Severn through the middle of the buildings. The footer also features even smaller houses as they took up too much room in comparison to the text and again they reach lower on the page than before.
This shows how the ratio of footer to content has improved, and the text is also one size smaller, size 12 instead of 14 as was decided in the meeting. I had originally used the bigger size to give more legibility but was assured that 12 is the standard for this form of print media.
When printed, I felt that the lighter shade of blue had a strange too-grey quality, and the icons that used blue, light blue and white were not as visible as they should be. To rectify this I have changed the way some icons look, using just white and blue and not laying text over the icons. I also connected the graphs on this page in a different way to give them more clarity.

I'm now confident with this design and with the backing of the council members I am happy to keep progressing the report and will bring in extra content to complete as much as I can.
